Mirela-san’s projects

Background of the projects

Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and some Balkan countries are candidates for membership in the European Union. (Croatia and Slovenia are official member countries in the peninsula)To become an official member, BiH tries to improve its environmental, social, and economic problems. The EU supports these activities technically and financially. According to the EU principle, there is a unique instrument to implement trans-border cooperation called “Interreg.”
The EU funds the following projects through the Interreg.

To implement sustainable development projects effectively, a holistic and system approach like Interreg is essential.

The first project

The second project

Smart Sector Coupling for Decarbonisation of Public Buildings (SMART DeCARB)

Project outline

This project aims to improve the energy efficiency of public buildings in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro. One challenge to effective energy use in the region is that there is no data on public building energy use. Therefore, first, it is necessary to establish a data collection and evaluation method.
After the achievement, the project tries to improve various types of public buildings, such as schools, administrative buildings, and innovation centers, by utilizing renewable energy resources (RES) and energy efficiency technologies (EE).
